Public asked to weigh in on plans to open restaurant in Marcy Casino

By July 27, 2016No Comments

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A NEW A LA CARTE RESTAURANT COULD SOON OPEN IN THE MARCY CASINO AT DELAWARE PARK, BUT FIRST, PARKS AND CITY OFFICIALS WANT TO HEAR WHAT COMMUNITY MEMBERS THINK ABOUT THE PROPOSAL.

Magnolia Events, which handles catering for the private events like weddings at the Casino already, is hoping to expand operations to include a restaurant that’s open to the public on the building’s second floor.

The restaurant, called The Terrace, would feature about 60 seats inside and 40 on the outdoor terrace, offering lighter fare like tapas and craft beverages at a 8-10 seat bar, which has been designed to replicate the wood work of the benches at the original boat house that stood near the site.

Olmsted Parks Conservancy leaders say a restaurant has been in operation in the Marcy Casino throughout most of its history. The Conservancy’s archivist even found records showing a $1,400 profit from the restaurant in 1875. Now, they’re exploring the possibility of bringing new life back to the building with another restaurant there.

As the process continues to decide what should be done, a third public input meeting and informational session will be held Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Buffalo Seminary on Bidwell Parkway.

Those who cannot attend the meeting can also submit their thoughts online through the Olmsted Parks Conservancy website: https://www.bfloparks.org/
