On Common Ground; Exploring parks and social justice through F.L.Olmsted and Dr. King

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Buffalo, N.Y. – In closing the 200th birth year of Frederick Law Olmsted Sr., the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) invited the public to an important and timely community conversation which intersects the social justice missions of Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903) and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  (1929-1968). On Common Ground: Exploring parks and social justice through F.L. Olmsted and Dr. King was free and open to the public and took place on May 16th from 6pm to 8pm at the Buffalo Museum of Science auditorium.

I write to you today with bittersweet news to inform you that after almost nine years as the head of Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, Stephanie Crockatt informed the board this week that she is taking a new position in Sarasota, FL.

The combination of moving closer to family members and working with a new conservancy led her to this difficult personal and professional decision.

Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy Seeks Design Firm for Arboretum Nursery Project

Buffalo, N.Y. – Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) issued Request for Proposals for conceptual design work for the proposed South Park Arboretum Nursery Complex. The awarded design firm’s work will contribute toward BOPC’s vision of restoring the South Park Arboretum while creating a new community gateway to South Park on the Ridge Road corridor.
