Sustaining the life-saving value of our parks

By April 30, 2020May 1st, 2020No Comments

WELCOME MAY, A MONTH WHERE WE CELEBRATE MAY POLES, MOMS, MEXICO, AND MEMORIALS.

We also find May 14th as the day the Smallpox vaccine was invented, and May 21st when the American Red Cross was founded — both of which have saved millions of lives across the world.

The Conservancy receives news each day about the life-saving value of parks. We also hear about cities who during this time wish their parks were connected, with more access, trails, and green space. We have that all right here in Buffalo — no one needs to create it or wish for it. We simply must sustain it.

We do our work with the help of many park partners and we are proud to be that connective green between many of our cultural assets and amazing nonprofits from Albright-Knox to Waterkeeper, and everyone alphabetically in between. Collectively we continue to be a better Buffalo.

As May winds down with Memorial Day, homage and respect are paid to those who have given their lives. Reverence will fall to those soldiers, front-line providers, and care givers before and after us who work to ensure our quality of life, health, and happiness. More than ever, we each have a social responsibility in our role as citizens to honor their sacrifices. MAY we all do so.
