I AM A HUGE FAN OF OLMSTED PARK CONSERVANCY’S EFFORTS TO SPEARHEAD THE MAINTAINED MEADOW AREAS (MMAS) MOVEMENT IN THE CITY.

These days, instead of seeing humdrum mowed lawns, the park system is coming back to life, thanks to these MMAs, which are controlled areas of natural growth, similar to what you might see in “real” nature.

Olmsted Parks to release arboretum study results

THE PUBLIC WILL GET ITS FIRST CHANCE FRIDAY MORNING TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THE BUFFALO OLMSTED PARKS CONSERVANCY’S PLANS TO RESTORE AND EXPAND ITS ARBORETUM AT SOUTH PARK.

The results of a feasibility study on the arboretum restoration will be included during a panel discussion by four national experts beginning at 8 a.m. at the Margaret L. Wendt Archives and Resource Center at Forest Lawn.  Read More

#Olmsted150 Volunteer Day – Delaware Park

As part of our 150th Celebration of Olmsted in Buffalo, we invite YOU, your friends and family to be part of beautification projects throughout our Olmsted Parks. These volunteer days are great opportunities to spend quality time with your loved ones while caring for your favorite parkland.

The full volunteer schedule is:

April 21, 2018: Delaware Park | Rake and clean plant beds

May 19, 2018: Riverside Park | Spruce up the River Rock Garden

June 16, 2018: Cazenovia Park | Mulch plant beds

July 14, 2018: South Park | Remove invasive species

August 11, 2018: MLK Jr. Park | Mulch plant beds

September 1, 2018: Front Park | Weed flowerbeds and mulch saplings

The tasks for the volunteer days are subjected to changes.
